Los Altos is a highly desirable destination that offers a downtown with great restaurants, coffee shops and local boutiques. The warm weather and close proximity to some of the best bike routes on the Peninsula draws avid cyclists from all around. At any time of the day, the Foothill Expressway (expressway is an overstatement) is lined with bikers heading north, south or west to the hills that lead to the ocean. This corridor is home to many technology companies such as SAP and VMWare as well as some start-ups.
Page Mill Road which houses many law firms and Hewlett Packard is easily accessible for residents of Los Altos. The Los Altos school system is one of the best in the Bay Area and families interested in living here can buy a little more with their money with regard to the size of both house and lot versus that of the neighboring cities of Palo Alto and Menlo Park. Most of the city’s streets are tree-lined and without sidewalks which creates a subtle “rural” feel but yet it is located in the center of the Silicon Valley.
