Redwood City has undertaken a major overhaul of its downtown to inject a new vibrancy with boutique stores and hip restaurants to a once docile area. New restaurants and lounges continue to spring up in the revitalized downtown section of Redwood City (Broadway Avenue vicinity). The Century 21 movie theater is a focal point that draws crowds is the only mainstream movie theater on the mid-Peninsula which draws residents from all around. 

There are two delicious Bakery/Coffee shops in the downtown RWC, Coffee Bar and Cafe La Tartine, plus a vibrant scene on Friday nights at the Courthouse where bands play and there is movie night.  The popular yoga studio, Peacebank, offers a variety of yoga classes in a modern new yoga facility. Among the retail stores downtown you will find two small clothing boutiques, Pickled, which offers contemporary clothings and accessories, and Madison Avenue, which carries women's clothing, house plants, home items, jewelry, and more.
